40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation (4040) invites guests to step back into the 70s, 80s and 90s for an evening of fashion, music and networking in support of mobile libraries for children in underserved communities.
On 31 October 2026, 4040 will host Back in Time, a prom-themed fundraising dinner at Aangan Restaurant along Lugogo Bypass. Starting at 3:00 pm and continuing till late, the event will bring together friends, families, community leaders and supporters for an evening of nostalgia, entertainment and a shared commitment to improving children’s access to learning resources.
Individual tickets are UGX 200,000, 350,000 for a duo and 550,000 for a squad of three.
Guests are encouraged to dress in their favourite styles from the 70s, 80s and 90s and enjoy a night of music, fashion and connection, all while supporting a cause that extends beyond the dance floor.
The proceeds will go towards establishing the Angaza Mobile Library, an initiative designed to bring books, learning materials and educational opportunities closer to children in underserved communities.
Taking learning resources closer to children
In 2023, 4040 established the Angaza Resource Centre in Kibuli to help bridge gaps in children’s access to educational resources. The Centre provides free literacy, information and communication technology (ICT), and life-skills learning opportunities. It currently serves approximately 240 children daily, alongside supporting educators and schools in the surrounding community.
However, many children living in hard-to-reach areas of Kibuli remain unable to benefit from the Centre’s services because of distance and transportation challenges. For these children, having a resource centre nearby is not enough if they cannot reach it.
The Angaza Mobile Library seeks to address this challenge by taking learning resources directly to children where they live and learn. By bringing books and other educational materials closer to underserved communities, the initiative aims to expand access to reading, nurture a love for books and strengthen literacy development.
In its first phase, 4040 aims to reach approximately 800 additional children through the mobile library initiative. The Foundation also plans to equip educators with practical skills in phonics, early-grade assessment and the use of mobile learning resources to better support children’s learning.
The initiative builds on 4040’s commitment to creating opportunities for children to learn, grow and thrive, regardless of the circumstances they are born into.
Be part of the journey
Through Back in Time, 4040 hopes to turn an evening of celebration into an investment in children’s futures. Every ticket purchased and every contribution made will support efforts to bring educational resources closer to children who need them most.
The Foundation invites individuals, families, businesses and community partners to attend the dinner, sponsor the initiative or make a contribution towards establishing the Angaza Mobile Library.
Whether you come dressed in your favourite retro outfit, bring your partner or arrive with your squad, you will be helping to make books and learning opportunities more accessible to children in underserved communities.
