4040 Prom
The 4040 Prom is a signature social fundraising event that brings together lovers, friends, and members of the wider community for an evening of connection, celebration, and impact. Designed as a modern take on the classic prom experience, the event offers guests an opportunity to dress up, create lasting memories, and enjoy meaningful interactions in a fun and welcoming environment.
More than just a social gathering, the 4040 Prom is intentionally curated to foster community, strengthen relationships, and create new connections across different generations and backgrounds. It combines entertainment, nostalgia, games, music, and shared experiences to deliver an atmosphere that is both vibrant and intimate.
Guests are encouraged to attend with a date, a friend, or as individuals looking to meet new people. The event typically begins with interactive activities and networking opportunities before transitioning into an evening of music, dancing, and celebration.
As a fundraising initiative, the 4040 Prom supports the organisation’s community development and social impact programmes. Every edition seeks to create memorable experiences for attendees while mobilising resources and partnerships that contribute to positive change.
At its core, the 4040 Prom reflects 4040’s belief that strong communities are built through connection, shared experiences, and collective action.
4040 Connect
4040 Connect is an event and a safe space for young people to talk about life and career realities with professionals from different occupations.
It is a deliberate effort for 4040 to support our volunteers with opportunities that improve their personal and career growth and development.
The event also aims to inspire, motivate and educate young people on topics that are relevant to them, such as leadership, mental health, and employment and career hacks, among others. Over 600 young people have been reached through 4040 hangouts.
5 Aside UG
5 Aside is a football event that brings up to 32 teams together to play as a means of raising funds for 4040 activities. The event constitutes other fun activities such as sack and egg race, kwepena (dodgeball) and tug of war, among other activities – to accommodate non-football participants. Winning teams receive prizes such as cash, trophies, medals and certificates.
4040 Night
4040Night is a quarterly fun event with quiz, karaoke and games. It is organized and hosted by 4040 to raise funds for its various activities, especially toward the Angaza programme. Participation at #4040Night is by registering quiz teams of 5 players and above. While there, individuals can also participate in other activities like board games and karaoke. The participation fee is currently Ugx 20,000 and the top 3 winners of the quiz receive amazing prizes that are generously offered by the Foundation’s partners.
Little by Little Campaign
Little by Little is 4040’s fundraising campaign that encourages the community to make small contributions towards 4040’s causes. Held in partnership with GlobalGiving, the campaign benefits from a matching funds opportunity where donations of up to USD 50 are matched by 50%, increasing the impact of every gift.
The campaign provides an accessible way for anyone to support 4040’s work, regardless of the amount they are able to give. By bringing together many small contributions, Little by Little demonstrates the power of collective giving and community-driven impact.
The campaign typically takes place twice a year, with editions held in March and September, and all proceeds support 4040’s social impact initiatives.
Volunteer Day
Volunteer Day will be an annual celebration dedicated to recognising and appreciating the individuals who generously give their time, skills, and energy to support 4040’s mission and programmes.
The event will bring together volunteers, partners, and members of the 4040 community to reflect on the impact of volunteerism, celebrate achievements, and strengthen relationships within the organisation. Through storytelling, recognition moments, networking, and team-building activities, Volunteer Day will highlight the invaluable contribution volunteers make to creating positive change in communities.
Beyond appreciation, the event will serve as an opportunity to inspire continued service, foster a sense of belonging, and reaffirm 4040’s commitment to building a culture of community, generosity, and collective action.
Angaza Day
Angaza Day is the annual celebration of the Angaza School Outreach Programme, bringing together learners, educators, facilitators, and the wider community to showcase the knowledge, skills, and talents developed throughout the year.
As the culminating event of the programme, Angaza Day provides a platform for learners to demonstrate their growth through exhibitions, performances, presentations, and other creative expressions. The event highlights key areas of learning, including leadership, environmental stewardship, reading, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, teamwork, art, and innovation.
Beyond celebrating achievement, Angaza Day reinforces the importance of holistic education by building learners’ confidence, encouraging creativity, and fostering a culture of excellence. It also serves as an opportunity to strengthen partnerships between schools, communities, and 4040 while recognising the transformative impact of the Angaza Programme on young people.
At its core, Angaza Day is a celebration of learning, potential, and the bright future that emerges when children are empowered to discover and showcase their abilities.
Thankful Thursday
Thankful Thursday is a community-centered game night that brings people together to celebrate gratitude, connection, and the individuals who consistently show up for us in both big and small ways.
Organized by 4040 in partnership with Endiro Coffee, the event combines fun, reflection, and community impact in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoy an evening of games, karaoke, conversation, and shared experiences while intentionally expressing appreciation for friends, family members, mentors, colleagues, and others who have positively influenced their lives.
As part of the partnership, 10% of all sales made during the event are donated to support 4040 causes, enabling attendees to contribute to meaningful community initiatives simply by participating.
Thankful Thursday is designed to strengthen relationships, foster new connections, and create space for people to pause and recognize the value of gratitude. Through laughter, storytelling, music, and interactive activities, the event reminds participants that community is built through appreciation, presence, and shared experiences.
More than just a social gathering, Thankful Thursday is a celebration of people, connection, and the impact of showing up for one another.
Pen the Future Writing Competition Prize Awarding Ceremony
The Pen the Future Writing Competition Prize Awarding Ceremony is an annual celebration that recognises and honours young writers who have demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and excellence in storytelling through the Pen the Future Writing Competition.
The ceremony provides a platform to showcase the voices, ideas, and talents of young people while celebrating the power of writing as a tool for self-expression, learning, and social change. It brings together learners, educators, parents, partners, and supporters to recognise outstanding entries and encourage a culture of reading, writing, and creativity among children and young people.
Beyond awarding prizes, the event inspires participants to continue developing their talents, sharing their stories, and using their voices to shape the future. It also highlights 4040’s commitment to nurturing literacy, imagination, and confidence in the next generation of leaders and changemakers.
At its core, the Prize Awarding Ceremony celebrates the transformative power of young voices and the limitless possibilities that emerge when children are empowered to read, write, and dream.
Easter with the Kids
Easter with the Kids is 4040’s flagship annual community celebration that brings together children, volunteers, partners, and supporters for a day of joy, connection, and giving during the Easter season.
Rooted in the very origins of 4040, which began in 2012 as an Easter initiative to bring smiles to vulnerable children, the event celebrates the spirit of compassion, community, and collective action that continues to define the organisation today. Each year, children from partner schools and communities come together to participate in games, creative activities, entertainment, mentorship, and shared celebrations in a safe and child-friendly environment.
Beyond the fun and festivities, Easter with the Kids serves as an opportunity to strengthen relationships between children, volunteers, partners, and the wider 4040 community while celebrating the impact that can be achieved when people come together for a common cause.
At its heart, Easter with the Kids is a celebration of hope, childhood, community, and the belief that every child deserves moments of joy and opportunities to thrive.
