4040 celebrates 14 years with colorful Easter ceremony with the kids

The Angaza Resource Centre in Kibuli came alive with laughter, color, and celebration as 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation (4040) hosted its much-anticipated “Easter with the Kids” event.

The event which happened on 4th April,2026 brought together over 400 guests including children from our  partner schools, teachers, volunteers (both new and longstanding), and our  valued partners. The day was a beautiful blend of Easter celebration and a milestone moment as 4040 marked 14 years since it was founded in 2012.

From the very start, the atmosphere was electric. Children’s laughter echoed across the grounds as the day kicked  off with  aerobics, setting the tone for a day  filled with fun and connection. Classic games like spoon-and-egg races, sack racing, and the ever-exciting “kappa egoba emmese” brought out friendly competition and teamwork among the children.

There was something for everyone. Faces lit up with color at the face-painting station ,dance sessions kept the energy high, and games like crate challenges, juggling, and “sonko” kept both kids and adults engaged.

In her heartfelt remarks, The 4040 Founder Esther Kalenzi reflected on the foundation’s journey:

“I can’t believe it’s been 14 years. On one end, it feels like it was yesterday, and on the other, it feels like it has been 40 years. My heart is so full.”

She spoke candidly about the journey ,one filled with joy, fear, fulfillment, exhaustion, and growth.

“This journey has been many things,it has been fun, terrifying, fulfilling, exhausting, joyful, and even excruciating. I have felt everything, body, soul, mind but it has been worth it.”

Esther’s  message was one of deep gratitude to the communities, partners, and volunteers who have stood by 4040 through every season.

“Thank you” feels like such an understatement. To everyone who has supported us in whatever role, big or small,we are truly grateful.”

She also further highlighted the critical role of local support from Ugandans

“We are especially proud of Ugandans who have continued to support us because, at the end of the day, you are all we have got. Thank you for being with us, please continue being with us.”

The celebration reached its peak with a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, marking 14 years of impact and resilience.
