Hi,
Welcome to our very first newsletter of 2026!
The year feels like it has had multiple starts, right? We hope that amidst it all, you are finding pieces of joy.
Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
First off, we would like to thank everyone who supported us in 2025, our volunteers, partners, donors, parents, teachers and friends. Because of you, we continued to expand access to literacy, create safe learning spaces, and move closer to our dream of launching the Angaza Mobile Library. 4040 is still here because you continue to believe in us.
May 2026 be everything you need and so much more.
Here is an update on our work so far and what is coming up.
Holiday Programme at Angaza Resource Centre
This year’s first holiday programme at the ARC ran from 12th January to 4th February, providing a structured and enriching learning space during the school break. Participants strengthened their ICT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer use. They also engaged in literacy and life skills sessions covering SWOT analysis, mind mapping, body language, critical thinking, and comprehension.

Over 20 youngsters from the Kibuli and Kabalagala communities participated. Beyond structured lessons, ARC continued to serve as a safe and supportive space where teenagers and young adults could freely express themselves, ask questions, and explore new ideas. We remain grateful to the young people who chose to spend their holiday learning with us, and to everyone who makes it possible for ARC to remain a consistent space for growth and reflection.
Volunteer recruitment
We are excited to share that we are currently recruiting new volunteers to serve across our different departments in 2026. As 4040 continues to grow, so does our need for passionate, committed individuals ready to contribute their time and skills to supporting the communities we serve.
This month, we will be conducting onboarding sessions to prepare and equip these young people with the knowledge and tools they need to execute their roles effectively. Throughout the year, they will also benefit from targeted professional trainings designed to strengthen their capacity and leadership. While we look forward to welcoming fresh energy into the team, we are equally privileged to retain more than 40 dedicated volunteers who have faithfully served with us over the years, a true testament to the strength and spirit of the 4040 community.
Coming up in March
The Little by Little Campaign

Thank you for supporting our wild dreams and contributing to the Angaza Mobile Library Project.
Because of you, we have so far raised UGX 40 million toward putting a library on wheels and bringing books, computers, and learning materials directly to children in under-resourced schools. We now need UGX 60 million more to make this project a reality for over 1,000 children.
From 17th–20th March, donations made through the GlobalGiving Little by Little Campaign will be matched, every $50 for an extra $25, meaning your generosity goes even further. Just $5 buys a book, $50 fills a shelf, and every contribution moves us closer to delivering hope and opportunity.
You can give as an individual, with friends, or as a family/company. Give what you can, because little by little, we will create a generation of readers.
You can donate any amount towards this campaign via Mobile money

D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Day
This month, the Angaza Resource Centre will join the nation in commemorating D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Day, celebrated annually on March 15th. To mark the occasion, we will host a week-long series of guest readers who will share stories with children and inspire a deeper love for reading. As part of extending the celebration beyond our physical space, we will also host an X Space conversation to engage our wider community and amplify the spirit of reading. Through these activities, we hope to remind every child, and every adult of the power of pausing to read.
The return of Angaza Friyaaaays 💃
Angaza Fridays return on 6th March as we resume our engagements with children in our partner schools. Our volunteers have thoughtfully prepared this year’s content, with a renewed focus on deepening literacy outcomes. In addition to our general class sessions, we will introduce targeted support for learners who experienced difficulties last year, ensuring no child is left behind.

We are also strengthening our hands-on learning approach. Alongside the skills we will deliver, the Foundation will once again host professionally led career days to encourage children to begin reflecting on their future paths early. Throughout the year, we will facilitate school learning exchanges among learners in our programmes, organise reading sessions for out-of-school children, and hold our second writing competition to nurture creativity and confidence.
All these milestones will culminate in our annual Angaza Day celebration in November. We are excited to reunite with the learners and even more excited about what the year holds.
