On 9 August, we hosted 4040 Connect at the Angaza Resource Centre in Kibuli. This session, themed “Permission to Rewrite Your Story: Lawyer to Digital Creative,” was a powerful moment of personal and professional reflection and inspiration.
Our keynote speaker, Fiona Kemigisha, delivered an extraordinary talk about embracing bold change. After studying and practising law for a few years, Fiona stepped away from her legal career to pursue her passion as a digital creative, and she hasn’t looked back since.
She currently co-hosts the popular podcast The Unpopular Opinion UG, and serves as Founder and Creative Lead at Khama Digital, where she champions the growth of digital creators through training and empowerment initiatives.
Fiona’s journey reminded us that career paths don’t have to be linear and that pursuing fulfilment is a journey worth daring. Her story enriched our volunteers with both personal reflection and professional insight, reinforcing our mission of empowerment, growth and community connection.
It also highlighted that it’s never too late to make a pivot, that storytelling and creativity can be powerful tools for personal fulfilment and that our shared values of growth, courage and community remain at the heart of what we do.
