4040 Hosts First-Ever Prom Fundraiser to Launch Mobile Library

40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation (4040) is excited to announce its first-ever Prom-themed fundraiser, a unique celebration of elegance, fun, and philanthropy. This one-of-a-kind event will support the launch of our Mobile Library Project, which aims to bring books, learning materials, and mentorship directly to underserved schools in Kibuli and beyond.

More than just a night out, the 4040 Prom is a platform where every ticket and connection will help advance access to quality education for children who need it the most.

“Our mobile library will serve as a moving hub of knowledge and opportunity, equipping children with the tools they need to read, learn, and dream big,” said Gloria Mbabazi, Head of the Angaza Resource Centre. “It will also support teachers with vital resources and training to enhance their lessons. Our goal is to raise UGX 100 million for the initia; two year phase.”

Why a mobile library?

In 2023, 4040 launched the Angaza Resource Centre to address educational gaps by providing access to books, computers, and professional development for teachers in under-resourced schools in the Kibuli area. While the centre currently reaches over 200 children weekly and has trained more than 60 teachers, not all schools can access it, largely due to transportation and financial constraints.

The Mobile Library Project is our solution: a travelling resource centre designed to reach the schools that cannot come to the Angaza Resource Centre. It will scale our reach and ensure that no child is left behind simply because they cannot make the journey to a library.

“We talk a lot about access, but for some children, even getting to a book is a journey,” Gloria noted. “This library will move for them, so their dreams don’t have to wait.”

4040 Prom – A night to remember

Did your school have “Sosh?”  If you missed it, didn’t enjoy it, or just want to relive the magic, this is your second chance! Tickets are at Ugx 200,000 and a pair gets a discount at Ugx 350,000.

Join us for a night of glitz and giving at the Angaza Resource Centre on September 27th.

Expect old friendships rekindled, glamour, great music, dancing, and countless moments of joy, all while supporting an impactful cause.

“4040 Prom is where fun meets impact,” said Peninnah, Head of Fundraising and Partnerships at 4040. “Sometimes people think fundraising is just about asking for money. Really, it’s about giving people a reason to care. This prom gives them a night that’s meaningful, memorable, and part of something bigger.”

Calling all supporters

We are inviting brands, creatives, entertainers, and supporters who are passionate about education and youth empowerment to be part of this cause. Whether you can support the event or donate, your contribution can help make this night unforgettable and bring life-changing resources to children who need them.

About 4040

Since 2012, 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation has worked to improve literacy and learning opportunities for underprivileged children in Uganda. With the support of Ugandans and a volunteer network of over 600 individuals, we have reached more than 3,500 children.

Over the years, the foundation donated thousands of books and established key infrastructure, including two dormitories, a library, and most recently, the Angaza Resource Centre, a safe space where children access books, computers, and mentorship to enhance their educational journeys.
